Director of Business Development

Finch Brands, a real-world brand consultancy, seeks an experienced, high energy Director of Business Development to help us continue to grow the FinchSight insights community business. This is a specialized offering within our firm and demands a sophisticated and consultative sales approach.

An insights community is a progressive market research methodology that involves the establishment of a private, on demand learning capability for a specific client. Clients engage Finch Brands to build, recruit, and manage these communities, enabling a continuous flow of learning. With 20 years of experience in custom market research, we entered the community business in 2016-17 and it has been highly successful. We now seek to grow it in a proactive, responsible way.

This role is responsible for the entire sales process – from identifying potential clients to developing proposed solutions to their needs to winning new business. While well-supported, this person will lead sales planning and execution for insights communities specifically. The entire company has aggressive growth goals and this position is no different.


Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing a winning sales plan, goal set, and execution process
  • Collaborating – working with our Marketing function to develop and own the sales funnel
  • Prospecting – targeting and sophisticated outreach that widens our acquaintance
  • Pitching – introducing the FinchSight community offering to new prospects
  • Proposing – leading our response to proposal requests and RFPs as appropriate
  • Transitioning – helping lead new clients through contracting and onboarding


Finch Brands will be heavily invested in this person’s success. We have a broad-based marketing program that will help fuel demand (this role can help shape), and our leaders will be available and engaged when it comes to pitches, thought leadership activities, and beyond.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • 5+ years experience and a proven track record of winning clients in a knowledge-based category (software, consulting, market research, etc.)
  • A demonstrated ability to both build and execute sales plans
  • Deep curiosity about business, people, and culture
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Smart financial management, a profit focus, and growth mindset
  • Ability to perform at a high level and multi-task in a VERY fast-paced environment
